I was pleasantly surprised to wake up the morning of the Marimekko for Target Collection release day to find that everything that I wanted, just this terry cloth swimsuit cover up, was still available online. Mind you, I woke up late and gasped because I just knew, like previous designer collaborations, this collection would sell out.
To my surprise, it didn’t and I successfully made the purchase online. Just to be sure that I got what I needed, I went to my local Target to see how the collection did in stores and to check out the cover up in person. Three hours after the release time, Target was calm and it was business as usual. More importantly, the very small section of the Marimekko collection looked to be untouched. Like, not one person was even near it!

The fact that there are still pieces available online almost three weeks from its release date is unheard of! Can this mean a shift for future designer collaborations? I can’t help but to wonder if is this a dying trend.
I’ll definitely be staying tuned to see how this designer collaboration phenomenon pans out.
