Lately, I’ve been challenging myself to explore pieces outside of the main fast fashion retailers. Don’t get me wrong, my wallet LOVES the quality for less finds that I come across in there. It just feels like it’s time to discover something new.
Queue up the Flying Solo Collective. If you’ve seen my Snaps (thewerkplace) and Insta-Stories (@thewerkplace), you already know that I’m obsessed with this place. Forty emerging bomb ass’d designers got together to showcase their work in this collective. They all have some percent ownership in the store and the craziest part to me is that the designers actually work the floor. Can you imagine?!
You can walk in and potentially be speaking to the designer of the amazing one-of-a-kind piece that you just discovered and can’t live without.
For instance, the designer of the skirt featured in this look, Layana Aguilar, assessed my size and said “Wait, I have something in your size in the back.” She comes out with this amazing origami fold skirt.
Seriously, where am I?!
Stop by and let them know that The Werk! Place sent you.
